Mahorney - Darnell Dewey

Darnell D. Mahorney, 94, died at 7 a.m. Monday at Lexington, Ind. A native of Montgomery County, he had been a resident of Engliston Retirement Home at Lexington for the past two years. He served as president of First National Bank & Trust Co, now Bank One at Crawfordsville until retiring. He was active in Indiana Bankers Associaiton and several civic organizations. His memberships also included First Christian Church where he served as an elder many years. He became a member of First Christian Church of Scottsburg when he moved there in May 1985. He was educated at Ladoga School and Wabash College. Mr. Mahorney served in the Army during WWI and II. In WWII, he served in the Finance Department of the Army Air Force in Alaska. He was born Dec 8, 1897, in Montgomery County to David and Elizabeth Spencer Mahorney. On July 4, 1942, he married Christine Wyman at Crawfordsville. She survives. Also surviving are two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a nephew. A son, Richard is deceased. Services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stewart Funeral Home at Scottsburg with Rev. Tom Mobley and Phil Lamaster officiating. Burial will be in Scottsburg Cemetery. Friends may call 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
